i absolutely recommend a film camera! also i would recommend finding a local place to get your film developed at and make a little ritual out of getting coffee and walking to drop off your roll of film :)

Loved this! I have a film camera and it is great for capturing memories in the moment instead of focusing on how the moment looks. However, it can be kind of pricey and honestly kind of hard to remember to buy more film when you run out, at least for me lol. I also have a digital camera, which I find does the same thing but cheaper. You can find a huge variety on eBay.

I also read this great article on the decay of influencer culture, how social platforms are leaning more towards ideas than egos. Definitely in line with this article, so thought I’d share!

I purchased a cork board and disposable cameras. I develop the prints and then pin them on my board. Physically having photos is a lot more fun than what's on my phone!

Love this and I totally agree with you. I recommend getting the BeReal app, it has a much more real feel, more authentic and in the moment. Of course the photos can be curated to a degree but the theory is you’re alerted at a different time of day to take a photo and you get 2 mins to do it.

Yes!! I haven’t used BeReal in a while (I got out of the habit) but i was really enjoying it and seeing all my friends daily posts too!

seeing all the phones out at concerts is my least favorite dystopian imagery rn and alsooooo film or even digital (i honestly recommend digital bc it's less cost prohibitive) photos are the best! bc you can take the pic and put the camera away. the pic already turns out better so you don't have to worry if you captured it correctly. it's more real looking like you said, less "portrait mode 1480mp extra zoom HD"

over the last few days i've been going through my camera roll after running out of storage, and i've deleted more than 3000 photos and videos. in the last few months, my mindset around documenting things has changed quite a lot without me really noticing it and going through my camera roll i realised that i wanted each photo or video to have a purpose. what's the point in keeping photos in your phone for the memories if you're only going to look at them once a year? i really hate the thought of living my life for an invisible camera, or just a normal camera, and it makes each photo in my phone more special because i know it's there for a reason. love this piece and the whole thought of living an authentic life in this digital age.

I love that!! Literally my phone photo album would be half the size if it wasn’t for the 3 versions of each photo i take

I’ve got a camera and hate posed pictures. Posing = fake.
