“It’s up to us, they’re our stories after all” sums up my feelings exactly. I’m an honest person….which can lead to over sharing. I think there is sometimes a fine line with vulnerability when it comes to protecting parts of us that are more raw or nuanced from life experiences.
thank you for writing this grace! I know it can feel tricky to find the right tone when talking about stuff like this but I think you did it really well! we need more posts like this to remind people of just *how much* they're sharing online and how they're approaching it
Thank you! Its something i think about a lot as someone currently choosing to share online and i think it helps us a lot to constantly consider our boundaries!
I really feel this. I’ve long had complicated feelings around what to share and how to share. The type of writing I enjoy working on lends itself to being more vulnerable, however it also opens for me questions around how to share my own stories while also maintaining the privacy of those around me. As an aside- it concerns me the push on tiktok and socials- this notion of vulnerability as currency. Really thoughtful piece- thank you, Grace! :)
Vulnerability is a gift. It's not owed to anyone. I appreciate the 'trauma tiktaks' but if there is no reflection, if it's done to get views, or to one-up each other, then it's truly flattening the experience, as you said.

For sure! We can’t forget to check in with ourselves ❤️
I'm a believer that what is most personal is most universal. I think its a superpower for those of us who are comfortable being vulnerable online.
vulnerability is SO powerful!

Definitely! Leaning further into the personal essay recently has made me question how vulnerable i’m willing to be! Im glad you enjoyed x
